Women In Defense Central Florida Chapter Awards and Recognition

wid-scholarshipphotoWomen In Defense, A National Security Organization, established the Central Florida Chapter Women In Defense (CFL WID) Awards and Recognition Program in 2011 to encourage women in Florida to pursue careers related to the national security and defense interests of the United States. Below highlights one of the three different awards the CFL WID offers:

2017 Central Florida Chapter Women In Defense Scholarship Program

  • Frequency of scholarships: Every Spring — DEADLINE APRIL 17th, 2017
  • Target Population: High school students and Employed college student
  • Amount: $1,000 for high school student, $1,000 for employed college student

Scholarship Criteria

  • Be a high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student currently enrolled/accepted in a regionally accredited Florida university or college, either full-time or part-time
  • Be a female
  • Demonstrate interest in pursuing a career related to national security, defense, or a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) related field
  • Demonstrate a financial need
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 – as evidenced by the most current unofficial transcript
  • Payment is issued directly to the recipient
